Erik Sulman, MD, PhD has led the Sulman Lab for more than 15 years. For the past 6 of those years, he has been a faculty member of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine where holds several roles:
Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology
Vice-chair of Research in the Department of Radiation Oncology
Assistant Dean for Physician Scientist Education
Director of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine Medical Scientist (MD/PhD) Training Program
Co-director of the Brain and Spine Tumor Center in the Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center
Co-Leader of the Brain and Spine Disease Management Group
Co-PI of the Perlmutter Cancer Center K-12 Training Grant
Prior to joining NYU, he was the Chief of the CNS/Pediatric Radiation Oncology Section at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, a member of the MD Anderson Brain Tumor Center Executive Committee, and director of the Biomarker Program in the Division of Radiation Oncology.
In addition to his leadership roles at NYU, he serves as the translational/correlative co-chair on some of the largest clinical trials for patients with brain tumors in NCI-funded cooperative group clinical trial organizations, including NRG Oncology and the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. He has served on the board of directors of the Society for Neuro-Oncology as Secretary/Treasurer and Radiation Oncology Representative as well as several committee chair roles and is currently the Scientific Co-Chair for the society’s annual meeting. Dr. Sulman has also previously served as the Section Editor for the Neuro-Oncology and Neurosurgical Oncology Section of the journal Frontiers in Oncology and is currently the Section Editor of Radiosurgery and Radiation Oncology for the journal Neurosurgery.
